Your Thailand
Discovery Tour.

Build a practical plan for the visit that helps you decide whether Thailand could become home.

Effective-date warning

Thailand’s US visa-exemption position is changing.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Washington states that US citizens can enter visa-exempt for up to 30 days from 15 September 2026, subject to its conditions. Enter your arrival date below so the planner can flag the appropriate starting point, then verify it again before travelling.

Build your US-to-Thailand discovery plan.

Answer eight practical questions. The planner builds an entry checklist, an on-the-ground research plan and an editable essentials kit. It does not store your answers.

No name, email address or medication name is requested. Answers stay on this page and are not added to the URL.

What do you need to investigate?

What the form changes

Personalised where it matters.

A generic Thailand packing list cannot account for passport, dates, trip length, region, activities or medicine. The planner uses those differences to move urgent preparation ahead of shopping.

01

Passport, not assumption

Residence in America and travelling on a US passport are not the same thing. The route says when it cannot safely personalise the immigration starting point.

02

Place and date

Bangkok, Chiang Mai and the southern coasts have different practical conditions. Exact dates also determine which immigration announcement applies.

03

Purpose of the move

A family, retiree and remote worker should investigate different journeys, institutions and deal-breakers.

Primary sources

Each regulated result points to the institution responsible for it. Dates are shown because travel and medicine requirements can change.

Common questions

Before using the planner.

Is a discovery tour just another name for a holiday?+

No. It can include leisure time, but the core purpose is to test the systems and routines that would shape ordinary life: neighbourhoods, costs, healthcare, transport, connectivity, housing and legal preparation.

Does living in the United States mean US entry rules apply?+

Not necessarily. Thailand normally applies immigration rules according to the passport used for entry. The planner therefore asks for passport nationality rather than assuming it from residence or departure country.

Can this planner tell me whether my medicine is legal in Thailand?+

No. It flags when an official check is needed and links to the Thai FDA checker. Classification must be made using the active ingredient, quantity and current Thai rules.

Should I book several Thai cities?+

Only if the trip is long enough to investigate them properly. Two well-tested neighbourhoods usually provide more useful evidence than a rapid tour of many destinations.
