TrueMoney Wallet
Thailand review.

Useful with restrictions

A large Thai wallet that accepts foreigner registration, but passport-only and advanced accounts have different limits. It is useful for supported merchants and services, not a promise that every personal PromptPay QR will work.

Who it suits

People staying long enough to use TrueMoney's merchant network, bill and transfer features, particularly after obtaining stronger proof of Thai residence.

Eligibility

TrueMoney's foreigner setup guide asks for a mobile number, OTP, passport or pink ID, selfie, visa type, email and signature. Advanced services can require a work permit, non-immigrant or student visa, Thai driving licence or other proof of lawful stay.

Safer setup sequence

Start small and verify the route.

  1. 01

Obtain a reliable mobile number that can receive OTP messages.

  2. 02

Choose non-Thai citizen and complete passport and selfie checks.

  3. 03

Review whether the app has granted basic or advanced verification.

  4. 04

Fund only after checking the features and limits shown for that level.

01

Funding

TrueMoney publishes bank, 7-Eleven and other merchant or kiosk top-up routes. The practicality of each route depends on the user's verification level and available payment method.

02

Payments

The wallet supports TrueMoney merchants and services. TrueMoney's guidance says an international card bound to the wallet can be used at participating merchants and some juristic-person PromptPay merchant QRs, subject to low published limits. Personal PromptPay QR transfers are a separate issue.

03

Limits and fees

The official foreigner table currently shows a THB 30,000 basic wallet and THB 50,000 advanced wallet. Bank transfers and international-card QR spending differ by level, and a THB 30,000 combined daily limit applies to specified transactions.

Strengths

Official foreigner onboarding route

Large merchant and cash top-up ecosystem

Potential bank transfer access after advanced verification

Detailed official limit tables

Cautions

! Basic and advanced accounts are materially different

! Some functions require evidence beyond a passport

! International-card QR use has narrow published limits

! Not every displayed QR is necessarily payable

Use during arrival

Where it fits in the move

Treat TrueMoney as a merchant wallet first. Verify the account level, test the shops you actually use, and do not assume it replaces a Thai bank app for rent, deposits or person-to-person transfers.
