QR payments abroad.
Eight named Asian destinations plus Alipay+A significant new option for travellers who already use Wise, with unusually broad eligibility and direct payment from an existing currency balance. Exact network and home-country restrictions still matter.

Advertised coverage
Wise's operational guide lists PayNow in Singapore, DuitNow QR in Malaysia, QR Ph in the Philippines, and Alipay+-powered routes including GCash, Alipay HK, KakaoPay, NepalPay, LankaQR and KHQR. It also lists Swiss QR-Bill, Hungary's Qvik and restricted Pix access. Alipay+ acceptance extends into 50+ destinations, but only at participating Alipay+ merchants.
01How it works
Open Scan in the Wise app, scan or import a supported merchant QR, enter the amount if required, review the fee and confirm. Wise takes the payment from a currency balance and automatically converts when the required currency is not held. For Alipay+, eligible travellers can also display a Wise QR for the merchant to scan.
02Cost to check
Wise says it uses the mid-market exchange rate and charges a conversion fee when conversion is required. Depending on the destination and QR type, it may also charge a payment fee of 1.2% to 2%; the exact charge is shown before confirmation.
03Important limit
The feature page excludes accounts registered in the USA, Canada and Japan. Philippines-registered accounts are currently limited to domestic QR Ph and InstaPay. Alipay+ scanning is limited to eligible customers travelling outside their account's home country. Wise's 6 October announcement names Thai PromptPay as available, but its current feature page still lists PromptPay as planned and its operational help table omits it, so Thailand should not be relied on until the app confirms support.
Before you rely on it
Check the live route
Confirm that the Scan option appears in your account, match the logo and QR network to Wise's current help table, review the final fee and recipient, and make a small payment before treating it as a cash replacement.
